There is No Better Time Than Now

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are now more than 50% of the way towards reaching our fundraising goal of $150,000 for the Farmers Market Assistance Fund.

Our generous friend Julia Violich will match your gift, up to a total of $10,000 by July 15, 2020 Please DOUBLE your donation by giving today.

“Being part of a family farming operation myself, I believe in the importance of sustainable food systems and the power of knowing your farmer. AIM has done a fantastic job of ensuring the farmers markets remain open as a safe place to shop for foods directly from small to mid-size farmers. AIM has set a high standard for responding to Covid-19 through many necessary changes at farmers markets. I am impressed by their work to bring farm-fresh produce to seniors and communities in need through the Rollin’ Root and through their latest innovation – the Bounty Box curbside produce program. Please join me in promoting community food security and ensuring a thriving food system by making a gift to AIM.” - Julia Violich

Your support helps to protect our essential farmers markets and community food programs. It also will be used to fund our actions of supporting Black Farmers and Black-Owned Businesses.

The Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) denounces police brutality and recognizes that violence against Black people is a continuous injustice in America. We clearly hear the collective pain and anguish among Black Americans, including our co-workers, producers, and members of the communities we serve. Read our CEO’s full statement in support of Black Lives Matters HERE.

Racial injustice is also pervasive in our food and farming system. AIM is firmly committed to supporting Black farmers, food makers, and artisans at our farmers markets in the Cities of Hayward, Newark, Oakland, San Francisco, and San Rafael. Black farmers and food makers have limited access to capital and farmland in America due to hundreds of years of structural inequalities.

One place to begin the work for racial justice in our food system is to help create new market opportunities for Black producers, including Black farmers, food makers and artisans. We will use a portion of your gift to AIM’s Farmers Market Assistance Fund to cover the first 6 months of market fees for 3 new Black producers along with mentorship from an experienced producer to help them succeed at the farmers market.

There is no better time than now to support systematic, wholesome, healthy changes in our communities. Your gift can help us create a healthier, equitable food system.
