The Agricultural Institute of Marin is seeking a dedicated part-time Mobile Market Assistant to support the Mobile Market Lead on Saturdays in ensuring the effective implementation of AIM’s Rollin’ Root operation. The Assistant plays a key role in fulfilling AIM’s mission of increasing equitable access to fresh, healthy food grown on local farms and providing nutrition education to underserved communities.
The Assistant assures the smooth operation of AIM’s Rollin’ Root program by helping the Lead drive to/from each site and set up and close the truck at each site, along with providing excellent customer service, including produce education, entering sales data, and conducting financial transactions. The Assistant will work closely with the Rollin’ Root Lead to create a positive and friendly environment at the Rollin’ Root for all customers.
Requirements
Assists the Rollin’ Root Lead in picking up fruits and vegetables from the farmer's market
Support the Rollin’ Root Lead in driving to, and setting up and closing down the Rollin’ Root at each stop, restocking and organizing produce, putting up all signs, labeling produce and placing safety cones
Provides excellent customer service, assists with financial transactions - including sale of produce and EBT/Market Match transactions
Assists Rollin’ Root Lead with ongoing Rollin’ Root operations
Maintains excellent relations with customers, staff, ambassadors, partners, local governmental/community organizations and businesses
Maintains a clean and safe operation up to county health department food safety standards
Assists Rollin’ Root Lead with any other tasks that need to be accomplished
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be 22 years of age or older
Must have valid CA driver’s license and clean driving record
Able to drive a large vehicle
Must be willing to undergo a background check in accordance with local laws and regulations
Physical capacity to repeatedly lift to 50lbs when loading/unloading produce from truck, primarily when opening and closing at each site
Excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills, detail-oriented
Bilingual in Spanish and English, with proficiency in verbal communication preferred
Ability to maintain calm, handle details and multi-task in a busy environment
Self-starter with outgoing, sunny personality with a sense of humor
Energetic, active person who is also a team player who takes direction well
Punctuality and attendance
General understanding and/or sincere interest in food, nutrition and farming
Ability to work early mornings and long hours on Saturday route day and occasional Mondays and Fridays
