Behind the Bounty Box: Andy Naja-Riese
Since April 2020, AIM has curated nearly 10,000 Bounty Boxes filled with fresh fruits and vegetables.
“Working in partnership with 35 farmers—many of whom are women or immigrants, and who use climate-smart practices—we have curated over 78,000 pounds of produce to nourish families in Oakland, San Francisco, and San Rafael through our curbside Bounty Box program. Thanks to the generosity of our community sponsors and the hundreds of hours of service from our volunteers, we have donated over 2,400 Bounty Boxes to older adults and food insecure families while paying market rates to farmers for their produce. These boxes are full of freshly harvested fruits and veggies - not seconds or leftovers. We work to treat people experiencing hunger with dignity by offering them high-quality, nutritious foods as part of an equitable food system.”
