What is a certified farmers market?
A Certified Farmers Market is approved by the County Agricultural Commissioner for certified farmers to directly market the products they grow and raise themselves. When Farmers Market regulations were established by the California Department of Food and Agriculture in 1977, there were only a handful of Certified Farmers Markets
in the state.
How many farmers markets are there?
Today, there are nearly 750 Certified Farmers
Markets, and 2,700 certified producers in California, which serves over 26,000 households each week.
The markets are outlets where consumer's benefits include: obtain farm-fresh fruits and vegetables
that travels a shorter farm-to-table trip.
Are dogs allowed at the farmers market?
California Health & Safety Code 114259.5 stipulates that live animals aren’t allowed in certified farmers markets and permitted food facilities, with the exception of service animals. Fraudulently misrepresenting service animals is a misdemeanor (California Penal Code 365.7 [a]). Please make plans to leave your animal at home or at a safe place outside of the market.

How long has AIM been around?
The Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) was established in 1983 to support farmers and their locally produced foods. AIM is an educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in the Bay Area. AIM’s mission is to educate, inspire, and connect communities, responsible farmers, and producers as part of a healthy, Earth-friendly, equitable local and regional food system.
How do I become a vendor?
