Step out of the classroom and onto the farm for an unforgettable field trip experience with your local farmer!
Diggin’ on the Farm connects participants to the heart of sustainability and agriculture, offering hands-on learning in a real-world setting. On your farm tour, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the local food system and the impact of sustainable farming and regenerative agriculture practices. Program Details
What to Know
Tours typically are held from 10am–12:30pm, with the opportunity to have a picnic lunch
Transportation must be provided by the school or organization
We have a minimum of 20 students or participants per tour, with a $20 fee per student
For ages 6 and up

AIM to Education: Scholarship Program for Title 1 Schools and Non-Profit Organizations
At AIM, we are dedicated to supporting non-profits, schools, and organizations in accessing our educational farm tours. To make these opportunities more accessible, we’ve introduced the AIM to Education Scholarship Program. This scholarship program provides financial assistance to Title 1 schools and non-profits, helping cover the cost of farm visits.
Our farm partners and locations
Chetwyn Farm is a small family farm located in the Hayward Hills growing over 20 different varieties of avocados and much more. Come learn about its history as a cattle ranch, get your hands dirty in the compost, meet the family goats and sheep, and taste fresh honey.

Chetwyn Farm, Hayward
Indian Valley Organic Farm & Garden teaches the community and students about sustainable agriculture methods, including integrated pest management, pollinator habitats, crop rotation, and solar power. Come learn about plants and insects! Good for all aged groups.

Indian Valley Organic Farm, Novato
AIM educators teach students about pollinator species, how diversity contributes to a healthy agricultural landscape, and the various aspects of organic row-crop framing. Students will start with a trail walk into the farm followed by a tour of the farm, green house, and educational gardens.
Trips for 1st grade-up.

Green Gulch Farm, Muir Beach
At 4.5 acres, Alemany Farm is the largest agricultural site in San Francisco. A community fixture, the farm shows folks how food can be grown in a city, and is available to harvest by anyone at no cost. Students will get a tour of the farm and will be able to get their hands dirty!

Learn about where milk comes from, how local ranchers care for dairy cows, and how dairy farming fits in with our natural environment. Lessons are led by Karen and John Taylor, owners of Bivalve Dairy and Bianchini Ranch. Trips for Kindergarten-up.

Bivalve Dairy, Point Reyes
Isaiah Powell has transformed a neglected corner in SF’s Bayview district into a thriving community garden and pollinator habitat. Learn about urban wildlife habitats, social justice, land stewardship, growing food in the city, and get a chance to get your hands dirty in the soil!

Dragonspunk GRO, SF
Gospel Flat’s honor-based farm stand offers an opportunity for students to understand how consumers can purchase food from farmers directly. Mickey Murch leads students through the practices of a small-scale organic farm. Farm tours are for 3rd grade-up.

Gospel Flat Farm, Bolinas
Mimi Luebberman and Mrs. Dragonfly offer comprehensive field trips to Windrush Farm where students feed sheep, spin wool, learn about pond life, and make connections between the environment and agriculture. Trips for Kindergarten-up.
