Start Date: Position open until filled, requires minimum 9-month commitment
Hours: 10-15 hours/week
Hourly rate: $40/ hour

Job Summary: AIM seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist marketing and communications efforts in a remote, independent contractor role. The Specialist will create and design various materials for print and digital collateral and ensure compliance to organization standards. Looking for design savvy, tech savvy, creative, part-time contract assistant. This position is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while supporting a local, well-known community based non-profit organization.

Background: AIM serves 400+ farmers, food purveyors, and artisans from over 40 California counties who participate in AIM’s nine certified farmers markets in Hayward, Newark, Oakland, Point Reyes, San Rafael, and San Francisco. AIM provides hands-on agricultural education programs to thousands of children and adults, operates a farm audit program, runs a mobile market for older adults and underserved communities, organizes a beginning farmers market incubator program, and operates CalFresh/EBT and Market Match services to create a healthier, equitable food system across the San Francisco Bay Area. AIM is engaged in state and local food policy work to make sure our actions benefit the land, the people who grow our food, and the health of all communities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create visually compelling graphics for digital and print media, including social media posts, website graphics, and email newsletters

  • Design brochures, signs, annual reports, advertisements, and other communication materials

  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications and budget restrictions

  • Perform retouching and manipulation of images

  • Work with a wide range of media and use graphic design software

  • Ensure projects are completed with high quality and on schedule

  • Contribute to content creation for social media, blogs, and email marketing

  • Craft social media content for multiple platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn

  • Take photos and create video content at farmers markets, programs and events

  • Support the preparation of marketing presentations and proposals

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts, Design, Marketing/Communications or related field

  • Knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, Sketch, InDesign, and other graphic design software

  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and ensure follow-through on all tasks & project

  • Able to drive diversity, inclusion, and equity initiatives through innovative marketing strategies

  • Knowledge of layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, print, and the web

  • Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects) is a plus

  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS and web design principles is a plus

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Thinks creatively and strategically
