Hand Made Scarves And Clothing
Susan Eastman’s evolving collection of wearable art scarves and clothing are handmade, one of a kind and limited edition pieces. A mixed media artist, Eastman has initiated several community arts projects, exploring issues of homelessness, incarceration, and environmental concerns, with the help of grants from the California Arts Council, Richard L. Nelson Gallery, University of California Davis, Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, Davis Civic Arts Commission, and the Yolo Arts Council. Notably, with the Richard L. Nelson grant, she developed an eight-year art program at the B. T. Collins Juvenile Facility in Sacramento, CA. Among other community-based projects, Eastman has served as artist in bioregional residence at UCD and redesigned a homeless shelter. She has taught privately and at college level, and has shown her work in solo and group shows. She currently lives and works in a converted warehouse loft in Oakland, CA, where she creates her wearables. Customers include the De Young Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
