In 2004, Nikki and Steve Teton bought a ranch in Mendocino County’s Anderson Valley, 5 acres of which they developed into the Petit Teton farm, named for a small mountain visible from the entryway. At FarmersÕ Markets and off the farm they sell an extensive array of prepared goods made in a commercial kitchen exclusively from the fruits, vegetables and nuts grown on the farm. Our motto is ÒWe grow it. We can eat itÓ. They sell fresh produce, fruit and eggs from our 100 pastured chickens.
Using permaculture as their model, the Teton’s have created the farm from raw land and although they are not certified organic, they use only natural inputs, most of which come from the farm. They raise yaks, pigs, and a cow as well as chickens so the compost is rich.
In 2008, NikkiÕs son, Cameron, started working on the farm and delivers the CSA boxes to San Francisco. In 2012 her other son, Wynne, and his wife, Sarah Ð our chief canner Ð and their two children, moved onto the farm. This makes it truly a family affair.
