County Line Harvest is a certified organic farm with two locations in California: one in Petaluma, Marin County, and one in Thermal, Riverside County, total 100 acres. The two farms allow them to meet the varied produce demands of customers year-round. David Retsky started County Line Harvest in 2000. The land was originally a Miwok campsite and then a livestock ranch before David bought the land and started focusing on vegetable production
The crops are chosen based on climate suitability, taste and appearance. They grow more than 50 varieties of crops throughout the growing season. Some of the products they grow are: lettuces, specialty salad and cooking greens; roots like beets, turnips, and carrots; herbs such as basil, parsley, dill, thyme, and oregano; plus strawberries, tomatoes, peppers and summer squash. The name ÒCounty Line HarvestÓ name came from the farm’s first location which was on the Sonoma-Marin County line. County Line Harvest continues its dedication to providing its surrounding communities with fresh and flavorful organically-grown produce. David believes it is important to grow a number of different crops in order to reduce pest numbers and disease as well to introduce new items to the consumers.
