The Rollin’ Root is a food truck stocked with seasonal fruits, vegetables, and dairy products from the farmers market. AIM’s goal is to ensure that all members of our community have access to fresh fruits and vegetables, regardless of transportation or economic barriers.

Our mission is to increase equitable access to fresh, healthy food grown on local farms and to provide nutrition education in underserved communities.

AIM’s work for The Rollin’ Root is in collaboration with a wider county-wide Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) strategy. We partner with Marin County Health and Human Services, the Marin Food Policy Council, the SF-Marin Food Bank, the Interfaith Sustainable Food Collaborative,, and others to increase access to fresh, healthy food for all residents, regardless of economic status.

“We have a social responsibility to make fresh, healthy foods more accessible, appealing, and affordable to our community members. With the roll-out of The Rollin’ Root, more older adults will experience the fresh taste and nutritional benefits of eating local fruits, veggies, and dairy direct from our local farms. The Rollin’ Root will also offer fun and engaging nutrition lessons on ways to plan, shop, store, and cook with local ingredients — on a budget. We’re bringing senior communities together to celebrate healthy eating and healthy aging!”

Whistlestop believes that we all share in the responsibility to ensure that every adult has the opportunity to age with dignity, independence, and grace. Nutrition is one of our four pillars of services we offer to address the social determinants of health that are challenging for many of Marin’s older adults. The Rollin’ Root will go a long way to help make food more easily accessible to this growing segment of our population.”
