AIM Grows Access to Healthy Food and Stretches the Purchasing Power of Low-Income Households

SAN RAFAEL CA, July 16, 2018 – The Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) announced the receipt of its second year of funding for the California Nutrition Incentive Program (CNIP). The California Nutrition Incentive Program was established by Assembly Bill 1321, to encourage the purchase and consumption of healthy, California-grown fresh fruits and vegetables by nutrition benefit clients. Over the next year, AIM will receive $122,632.87 in Market Match funds, an increase from the previous year’s award. Market Match supports participants in CalFresh—California’s name for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly called the Food Stamp Program. CalFresh participants who use their EBT card at AIM’s seven Farmers Markets are eligible to receive a one-to-one match up to $10 in Market Match tokens, which can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.
