Despite the abundance of farm fresh food in the Bay Area, far too many residents in our communities struggle to put healthy food on the table, resulting in greater food insecurity, hunger, poor nutrition, and diet-related health issues. At AIM, we are working hard to close the food access gap.
In August 2018, AIM launched The Rollin’ Root, a mobile market stocked full with local, seasonal fruits, vegetables, and dairy products. Our many donors and partners made this exciting program a reality.
Together, we are one step closer to bringing fresh, healthy food to all residents regardless of zip code and economic status!
In its inaugural months, The Rollin’ Root has been a smashing success!
“One of the big issues here is that so many people don’t even go outside of their house or they might live alone. Maybe they order food or a friend shops for them. A lot of people here don’t even know about organics or eating fresh fruits and vegetables.” -Tara, Rollin’ Root Ambassador
The Rollin’ Root not only brings market produce from farmers at the Thursday Marin Farmers Market directly to neighborhoods and increases nutrition education, but also creates a welcoming place for communities to gather:
“Rather than picking up my stuff and leaving, I always end up talking to a lot of neighbors that I didn’t even know!” – Mary, Rollin’ Root Ambassador
As we step into 2019, help AIM sustain The Rollin’ Root and further extend the route to other communities in need across the Bay Area. Your year-end donation will be doubled, up to $2,500, thanks to the generosity of a dedicated supporter of AIM’s mission, who wishes to remain anonymous.
For every dollar you give in the next two weeks, your gift will be doubled! Click here to donate today.
We thank you for your continued support!
